Over the last two weekends in October, we’re offering activities centred around the Maures’ iconic fruit: the chestnut (or marron?). A tour of a chestnut grove led by Armand MARCONNOT, forestry technician, and Hafid BOUSSIS, chestnut grower from La Garde-Freinet ► Duration: 2 hours Also known as the ‘bread tree’, the chestnut tree is a common sight in the local landscape. Accompanied by a chestnut grower, you will wander amongst the trunks of centuries-old chestnut trees. He will tell you the story of this tree and its fruit, which used to be called ‘le marron du Luc’. But what on earth is a marron doing in the middle of a chestnut grove? You will be given the exact meeting point in La Garde-Freinet once you have booked. Please arrive 15 minutes before the activity starts. Please wear closed-toe shoes.
