Description
Do you know what the coastline is ?
Far more than just a synonym for "seashore," the coastline is an essential link connecting the terrestrial and marine environments.
Guided by an expert, from the Villa Rayolet to the Pointe du Figuier, come explore this space where land and sea, humanity and nature, beauty and fragility meet.
For many, the coastline is simply "that small stretch of land just before the sea." While this is true, it is so much more...
The coastline is a transitional zone, a bridge between land and sea. This boundary, sometimes gentle, sometimes delicate, is a treasure trove of biodiversity. It hosts species from both neighboring environments, as well as animals and plants that thrive only in these borderlands: plants that cannot grow underwater but resist salt, spiders that live in the seaweed left by the tide...
These living beings are remarkable in their adaptations and are closely tied to the coastline. Your walk will begin at the Villa Rayolet, offering a view of both the rugged shores of the Massif des Maures coastline and the maquis, the small Mediterranean forest linked to the presence of the sea. From there, you will head to Pointe du Figuier.
Your guide will show you the harshness of life on these rocky cliffs, as well as their fragility and the challenges facing this precious and sought-after area. Finally, you will reach the sea from the Maison de la Plage.
A beach is a natural interface far richer and more populated than it appears. To understand it, you must observe it closely...
This themed visit offers a new perspective on two worlds that seem opposite yet are deeply interconnected.
This interdependence is embodied by that small stretch of land just before the sea: the coastline.
